Vehicle Transport in Amarillo TX
Not every tow is a breakdown. Sometimes you bought a car at auction and need it home. Sometimes you are moving across Texas and the second car needs to go with you. Sometimes a project car needs to come from Lubbock to your garage in Wolflin. That is vehicle transport - moving cars from point A to point B by request, not because they broke. Local vs long distance
Vehicle transport in Amarillo splits into two categories.
Local transport is anything inside the Loop 335 area or out to Canyon TX. Flat-rate pricing, usually same-day, sometimes within an hour or two depending on schedule. Most local transport is auction pickups, moving a vehicle between shops, or hauling a car to a buyer somewhere across town.
Long distance hauling is anything outside the Amarillo metro area. Lubbock, Dumas, Pampa, Borger, Hereford, Stratford, anywhere across the Panhandle, or further out into West Texas. Long distance is priced per mile and quoted up front before we roll a truck. We run a lot of these - Amarillo is the hub of the whole Panhandle, so cars are constantly moving in and out.
What we transport
Anything that fits on a flatbed or runs on its own wheels:
- Cars purchased at auction
- Project cars and classics moving between owners
- Cars being moved during a household relocation
- Salvage and parts vehicles to a yard or shop
- Inoperable vehicles where the buyer wants them moved before the title transfers
- Recreational vehicles, boats on trailers, lawn equipment with no street registration
Why flatbed transport
Most of our transport work goes on the flatbed. There are real reasons:
- The vehicle does not put highway miles on its own engine and transmission
- A non-running car can still be moved
- AWD and 4WD vehicles cannot be safely flat-towed or wheel-lifted long distance
- Cargo and contents in the vehicle are protected from road debris
If a car can drive itself, you might wonder why pay for transport. The answer comes down to time, mileage, and risk. A 200-mile self-drive puts 200 miles of wear on a car you might be planning to flip, restore, or sell. A flatbed transport keeps it untouched.
Pricing and scheduling
For local Amarillo transport, the price is set by the route and we can usually quote it on the phone in under a minute. For long distance, we need pickup location, drop-off location, and the type of vehicle. Time of day does not affect the rate - we run transport jobs day, night, weekends, and holidays.
Common long distance routes we run:
- Amarillo to Lubbock (about 120 miles)
- Amarillo to Dumas (about 50 miles)
- Amarillo to Borger or Pampa (about 60 miles)
- Amarillo to Wichita Falls or Abilene (longer hauls, run weekly)
