Running out of gas is easy to do in this part of Texas. The distances are real:
- US-287 north of Amarillo toward Dumas has long gaps between stations, especially at night
- I-27 south toward Canyon TX and past it toward Tulia gets sparse
- I-40 east past Amarillo toward Shamrock is a long run with limited exits
- State highways like FM 1151 and TX-136 toward Palo Duro Canyon have no stations for miles

Stay in the vehicle with the hazards on until we arrive. If you are on a highway shoulder, do not stand behind or beside the car. Stay inside with the seat belt on.
If the car will not start after fuel
Sometimes running completely dry can cause a fuel pump issue or air lock in older vehicles. If fuel delivery does not get the car running, we can tow you to your mechanic or the nearest shop. We would rather give you the fuel first and try the easy fix - but if it does not work, the tow truck is already nearby.
